12.2.10
Today was a lazy day. Woke up about 8 and finished reading the latest Dan Brown book (thanks Tzeira) and was done by 10 when Yo woke up. We got dressed and headed out to the bank where we exchanged money and then went to lunch at a place called Jerusalem falafel. It claims that it specializes in Middle Eastern fare. Lonley Planet, our life-line in Thailand, highly recommended it. I got a Haloumi salad. It was good but nothing complared to what I can get in the real Jerusalem. The decor was an ecstatic mix of Israel. (Shabbat candlesticks, a menora, a metal plate with a Jewish star and lions and a few Shalom Bayit Hamsas to Turkish Fez's and plates and a few hookas. They were like a melting pot for Middle East peace.
What was worthy of writing home about was my mango lassi (a fruit shake with home-made yogurt) and the bathroom. I think that most stores in Thailand, the owners live on the premesis. The bathroom at the restaurant was up a step and I also had the same shower and heater attachment that the guesthouses have as well as a washing machine, and shower-caddy rack with shampoos and soaps. There were signs saying not to throw toilet paper into the toilet. I took a poo and put my toilet paper into the trashcan. I hope that they don't mind but I was following directions. Then I pulled the yellow ribbon that was tied from somewhere in the tank to the wire caddy on the wall to flush (I did it twice).
Then we went to internet and off to pick up laundry and back to the room. My goal is to learn chapter 2 of Esther (or at least most of it) before Shabbat and then learn seven (and the rest of 2) over Shabbat so that I just have to review the next few weeks.
Soon I will shower and dress for shabbat. Services at Chabad begin at 6pm and it's about a 45 minute walk. I went back to internet to resend the shabbat photo (a larger one) and got to talk breifly with Ari- YESH!!!! It totally made my shabbat!
